teen leaader and crew

Crew Leaders: adults or teens who have completed at least 9th grade. No advance prep

is required for this job except attendance at a

crew leader training meeting in June. Crew

leaders commit to getting to know the children

in their crews, assisting them as needed at the stations, leading them in discussion as directed

by station leaders, encouraging good behavior, enabling safe travel between stations and praying for the children.

Assistant Crew Leaders: youth who have completed at least 6th grade. Duties are

to assist the crew leader as needed.

crews in the craft station

Station Leaders: have the opportunity to teach all the children at VBS each day. Each day’s lesson is presented to four different groups of crews as crews and their leaders rotate among the stations. Activities at the craft, drama, games, video and snack stations are all different, so volunteers can teach in their areas of interest. Lesson plans and all directions for each 20-minute activity are provided.

Hospitality Room Assistants: provide refreshments for volunteers to recharge their batteries each morning.

Preschool VBS

Many volunteers are needed to ensure that all

children at VBS learn more of the stories of God,

know the love of Jesus and experience the

fellowship of the Holy Spirit in safety. Nursery

and preschool VBS are provided so that those

who have children younger than kindergarten age

are able to volunteer. The VBS Nursery is staffed

by our Nursery and Mothers’ Morning Out workers and preschool VBS is led by volunteers from the congregation.

Scenes from Pandamania VBS 2011

We learned that God knows us, listens to us and is wild about us by experiencing a number of impactful Bible stories. We imagined what it was like when God created the world, went to sea with Jonah, watched Elisha and the prohets of Baal, rejoiced both at the miracle of Hannah's baby and at the resurrection of Jesus. Our mission project this year was decorating backpacks to send to school children in South America. We added vibrant color with fabric markers and words of encouragement with bookmarks enclosed in the backpacks.
