“They answered,
‘We have only five loaves of bread and two fish—unless
we go and buy food for all this crowd.’ (About five
thousand men were there)…Taking the five loaves and
the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and
broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to set before
the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples
picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left
over.” Luke 9: 13–17
Feeding a county full of hungry children can seem like a
daunting task. But when we trust the Lord and use the resources
we have, we know He will provide!
By the end of May, many of the children who would usually
eat a free lunch at school will go hungry. Without the resources
of the school lunch program (in which eligible children can
receive a free lunch), these children frequently go without
a nutritious meal.
Last summer fifty-six members and guests of First Presbyterian
helped provide sack lunches for Cobb County children whose
families cannot afford to feed them. MUST Ministry’s
Summer Lunch Program gives us and our children an easy and
important way to share God's love and gifts with our neighbors.
The summer lunch program launches the week of May 27, 2008. Please say
you'll help by making lunches or by providing the resources
necessary for someone else who can make the lunches. Even
a donation of a few lunches helps. See the guidelines below
for more information.

Preparation Guidelines
• Be sure to wash your hands or use gloves when making
sandwiches. Please be sure that the preparation area is clean.
• Provide lunches as close to the menu provided as possible.
• Pre-mix peanut butter with jelly before spreading it
on bread to increase the shelf-life of the sandwiches.
• Use white or whole wheat bread for the sandwiches.
• Do NOT use condiments.
• Put prepared sandwiches into Ziploc bags. Please do
not use the fold over the sandwich bags. The sandwiches are
more likely to fall out.
• Put the wrapped sandwiches back into the bread bag and
twist tie the bag closed.
• Keep the sandwiches refrigerated or in a cooler until
they are delivered to MUST.
• Put all the other lunch items into the lunch bag.
Delivery
• Please deliver the lunches to the Marietta MUST warehouse
by 5:00 p.m. the day before delivery or at 9:00 a.m. on the day of delivery.
• The warehouse is located at 1210 Kennestone Circle Parkway,
Suite B, Marietta GA 30060. Traveling north on North Cobb Parkway
(Hwy 41) just past our Marietta campus, turn right at the light

the right all the way to the end. We are on the left.
• To sign-up or volunteer, please contact or call LaDrina Jones (678) 212-4488. To sign-up as a driver/rider for Smyrna, please contact (404) 536-3430.
Suggestions
• You are invited to decorate the lunch bags.
• If you would like to provide an extra treat (i.e.
lollipops, candy), please keep it separate from the lunches
and it will be handed out to the children.
• Tracts or other religious materials should NOT be
included in the sack lunches.
